Less than a year after it entered India, Dutch denim brand G-Star Raw will open five new store by the end of this year, said a top official of its Indian partner Genesis Luxury. G-Star Raw currently has one store at Palladium Mall in Mumbai.
“G-Star Raw will open five new stores in Delhi and NCR, Pune, Chennai, and Bengaluru by end of this year,” said Nikhil Mehra, COO of Genesis Luxury, according to the Economic Times.
Mehra said the denim industry has been grow at 15 per cent annually by 2018. Meanwhile, G-Star Raw has announced American singer, rapper, and record one of the most promising category in India’s apparel market and is projected to producer Pharrell Williams as the co-owner of the jeans brand. In his new role, Williams will be involved in the company at many creative levels including collections, advertising and business strategy, the company said.
The move comes after two years of collaboration between G-Star and Williams’ company Bionic Yarn on a special collection ‘RAW for the Oceans’, which transforms recycled ocean plastic into denim. The company did not disclose any financial details.
